about
On the heels of their cover of the xx’s “Shelter”, indie electronic pop band Sutro, releases their new single, “Takin’ Me Down”. Lead singer, Tyler Stone, delivers sultry vocals with attitude while the band’s signature DJ meets live musicianship sound gets amped up with overdriven guitar and warbling synths. The song is about a power play between two people, but ultimately when Stone proclaims, “you think you’re in control but all I have to do is call!” the outcome is clear. The song’s gradual build from dark and sexy to fierce and driving, takes the listener along for an emotional ride, while delivering a powerful and catchy chorus.
lyrics
You get so up close and personal
I resist your every charm
Don't pretend it's not a rehearsal
I could give a damn who you are
Cause you tried too hard
With me from the start
Now you're fallin’… you’re fallin’ apart
Don’t turn it around on me
Don’t turn it around
I'm coming up incomplete
You're takin me down
Don’t turn it around
All dressed up but there's no place to go
Seems like I've been here before
You pretend like you're so in the know
I was just expecting more
Didn't mean to catch
you so undressed
But I'm not impressed, I'm not impressed
Don’t turn it around on me
Don’t turn it around
I'm coming up incomplete
You're takin me down
Don’t turn it around on me
Don’t turn it around
I'm coming up incomplete
You're takin me down
You're not invincible
You're not above it all
You think you're in control
But all ll I have to do is call
Don’t turn it around on me
Don’t turn it around
I'm coming up incomplete
You're takin me down
Don’t turn it around on me
Don’t turn it around
I'm coming up incomplete
You're takin me
You're takin me
You're takin me down

Sutro is an indie electronic pop band that blends "...the perfect balance of beats, atmospheric electronic elements and
accessible pop song writing.”, says producer Joe Chiccarelli, who helped shape the sound of their current album, Broken Distance. Tyler Stone's haunting vocals float effortlessly over a thick bed of programmed drums, fat analog synths, effected guitars and melodic baselines....more
